What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders. It uses hands-on techniques to improve movement, reduce pain, and enhance overall wellbeing.

Who can benefit from osteopathy?

Osteopathy can benefit people of all ages, from infants to the elderly. It is particularly effective for individuals experiencing back pain, joint issues, sports injuries, headaches, or postural problems.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, a referral is not necessary. You can book an appointment directly with us. However, if you are unsure, consulting your GP beforehand can be helpful.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment by calling us at 07720 315 402 or contact me here.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring any relevant medical history, including X-rays, MRIs, or a list of current medications. Comfortable clothing is recommended as you may be asked to move or stretch during the assessment.

What happens during my first session?

Your first session includes a detailed consultation to understand your health history, a physical examination, and a personalised treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Is osteopathy painful?

Most osteopathic treatments are gentle and should not cause pain. You may feel some discomfort if working on a sensitive area, but this is typically short-lived.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on the condition and its severity. After your initial assessment, we will recommend a treatment plan, which may include a specific number of sessions.

What techniques are used during treatment?

We use a range of techniques, including soft tissue massage, joint manipulation, stretching, and cranial osteopathy, tailored to your specific needs.

Are you osteopaths fully qualified?

Yes, I am an osteopath registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and adhere to the highest professional standards.

Can children or babies receive osteopathy?

Absolutely. Paediatric osteopathy is gentle and can help address issues such as colic, sleep disturbances, and postural concerns in infants and children.

What conditions can osteopathy treat?

Osteopathy can assist with:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Joint pain and stiffness
  • Sports injuries
  • Migraines and tension headaches
  • Postural problems
